Why Mai Beauty?

One major rule to go by when trying to find cosmetics that are all- natural, be careful of company's that claim it! There is no law for the term "all-natural"! This means that products could contain enormous amounts of parabens, sls, glycols etc.. and maybe a little bit of aloe vera! Not exactly all-natural if you ask me..

So why Mai Beauty? We avoid certain chemicals and preservatives while still maintaining the quality of high end cosmetics and are happy to break down the substances that every savvy shopper should look for!

Sulfate-free: Does not contain sodium laureth/lauryl sulfate {SLS} which cause your bath/shower products to "foam up". Studies have shown that SLS can be very irritating to the skin. SLS is frequently tested on animals and is currently being studied due to its association with male infertility and breast cancer.

Paraben-free: Does not contain chemical preservatives, which are used to pro-long the shelf life of cosmetics. Parabens are frequently tested on animals and are currently being studied due to its association with breast cancer.

Propylene Glycol-free: Does not contain propylene glycol which is used to dilute fragrance oils and is found in lotions. It holds the moisture into your skin making your skin feel moisturized. Propylene glycol is currently being studied due to its association with liver abnormalities and kidney damage.

Phthalate-free: Does not contain phthalates which is a compound that makes plastic bottles more "squeezable". You can also find phthalates in fragrance oils. Phthalates are currently being studied for their association with cancer and adult infertility.

Cruelty-free: The product and all of its ingredients were not tested on animals!  :)
I find this one very important! In this day and age, we do not need to test products on animals, especially cosmetics. Seeing as animals do not have the same PH level in their skin anyways, it's basically just cruel. We at Mai Beauty test all of our products on ourselves.. and other cosmetic company's should do the same, if you create it, you should test it, no?

Well there you have it, what Mai beauty avoids and why!
